Introducing Ancaster Chiropractor Dr. Ron Norman
“I never saw a chiropractor till I was 21 years old while attending university and having typical study stress in a pre-medical program. I just wish I had known then what I know now, even though I was in perfect health I was grateful to discover a natural means of treating the body without having to rely upon medications that only serve as a band-aid to the symptoms rather than treating the actual problem”.
I find the time spent with patients is rewarding, especially when patients initially are interested in pain relief and then discover the benefit of preventative natural health care and experience better sleep and use less to no medications.
I have always been active in some form, whether it was team sports such as: soccer, baseball, basketball and volleyball or individual sports like mountain biking, rock climbing, snowboarding, surfing and kiteboarding. Regardless of the activity, at some point, like most, I tend to over do it a bit; therefore, I tend to receive chiropractic care and muscle work regularly.
Although I initially began my studies in business, I had an undeniable curiosity of the architecture of the human body. My undergraduate degree was completed in my home town of Saskatoon at the University of Saskatchewan where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Anatomy and Cell Biology. I was then admitted to the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic (AECC) in England associated with the University of Portsmouth where I graduated with a dual-degree with first class honours: Bachelor of Science (Hons) Degree in Chiropractic (Neuromusculoskeletal Sciences) and Master of Science in Clinical Chiropractic, specialization in rehabilitation. More recent cerebral abuse includes admission to McMaster University to study toward earning a PhD degree in clinical health science research, specializing in evidence-based healthcare and rehabilitation with the balance of clinical practice, teaching at a university and healthcare research.
Although, I am beginning to agree with Dr. Albert Einstein who concluded “you should not let your learning be hampered by formal education”. My life is balanced with my wife, Denise, and daughter, Ava. My wife keeps busy as the education coordinator for the Centre for Minimal Access Surgery (CMAS) at St. Joseph’s Hospital and aptly dawning a 'supermom' cape.
Living in the quaint, historical town of Ancaster offers some great opportunities for community involvement. I enjoyed being part of the Ancaster Thursday AM rotary, volunteering at local sporting and charity events such as the: Paris to Ancaster bike race, Around the Bay race, Old Mill race, duathalons/triathalons and various charity fundraisers.
My practice philosophy is simple: European-based, patient-centered health care.
Why health care, as opposed to, muscle and joint pain problems, because health is not purely defined as just the absence of pain, it is a complex interaction of variables, since the body is more than just the sum of it’s parts.
I aim to educate each and every patient that I am fortunate enough to meet on: the human body, healthcare options including treatment and nutrition, progressive evidence-based rehabilitation and preventative optimum health care. Doctor’s of chiropractic, medical doctors, dentists, optometrists and most recently naturopaths are the only professions which are legislated to use the title of doctor and the ability to diagnose and recommend treatment for disorders of the neuromusculo-skeletal system (nervous system, muscular system and skeletal system.)
If you are a skeptic, had a previous poor experience or simply have never been properly introduced to European-based Chiropractic, I look forward to aiding in your healthcare goals with conservative, gentle manual care. The age range at the clinic is currently months of age to 97 years.
